    Switching seats

I have a 2000 Proton with 80K miles that is in good shape and I want to keep it that way. I have noticed that my driver's seat leather is wearing in spots and I am afraid its may soon split. The passenger seat, however, is pristine.
Has anyone ever tried switching the driver and passenger seats to better distribute the wear and tear? The rails and release leavers are mirror image, so the seats can't just be moved from one side to the other. But is there a way to remove the leather backs and seat cusions and exchange them.
Any other suggestions on how to minimize the leather wear on the seats besides a seat cover?

The rails can be removed from the seats, switched and then reinstalled.

Also, keeping the leather well conditioned will really help preserve the seats. Skidmore's leather cream gets great reviews.

As an FYI if/when both seats get bad, good reupholstery shops can redo almost anything to the point where you'd never know it had been repaired or replaced. The only exception to that is the VehiCROSS logo in the back insert, so you need to make sure that part stays pristine.

After seeing this I decided to get me some leather cream... but then I saw the Beeswax. Wouldn't the Beeswax be better since it water proofs? Or would the leather cream be better? Either way, I'm using one or the other.

I'm kinda confused... because on their website it says:

"Skidmore’s Waterproofing goes one step further than our Leather Cream."

    http://www.skidmores.com/products.asp?cat=14

This leads me to believe that the Beeswax is a superior product. That's why I was asking, because of the above statement...
