oil consumption

I know there has been a couple of threads on this but I just recently noticed that I can drive for 1,000 miles in city and have no oil useage whatsoever, and travel 500 highway driving and need a quart.

That's what KAT used to experience too (much more oil consumption HWY compared to City).

I've noticed something interesting on the Amigo (different scenario since it's a 5 spd): When shifting at low RPMs (causing engine lugging), I get much more oil consumption than I do if I shift at higher RPMs.

I've got 146,000 miles and I've only ever need to top off after a very long drive...9~10 hours highway. And I've only topped off three times that I can recall... I always carry a quart of Mobil1 when I take a trip. Rarely need it until I get back. I love my VX!

Mine burns much more now that I have a daily commute in a 70 mph zone for 20 miles.
