I have one of the original Alpine superchargers and would appreciate knowing how to change out the oil in that thing.

Ok, does anyone with a supercharger (early back in the days when Tone was around) know the model number or any advise on how to answer my original question?
I used a small turkey baster with a rubber tube attached to drain it down. Its a bit of grunt work. Takes a while to drain down that way. Filling up, just funneled fresh juice back in. Filled to the cap hole until it wanted to run out.
Is that the advice you might be looking for?

I found that if you filled to the bottom edge of the front plug, you would soon find oil blown out past the seal collecting in various depressions on the front of the S/C. When I had the install done by Alpine in their shop, they filled by volume and that resulted in the level being 1/4" below the front plug. When I did service later, I determined this by lowering a small tube on a syringe 1/4" into the gear case and I sucked back oil to that level.

Where is this filler hole??? And what grade oil did you fill it with? That's my mystery.
Mine is right in front left of the snout, looking at it on the motor. A 6mm allen setscrew looking thingy, IIRC. I did the same thing, used a syringe to suck the old oil out. I went to a Chevy dealer and got 8oz of super charger oil, cost about as much as a quart of motor oil. It has a narrow tip to fill with, and as mentioned earlier fill it up till it runs out.
Hope that helps, Dan
What Hughesdt said, except stay 1/4" below the bottom of the fill plug.

Thanks! I was looking on the top...such a fool
