    Fuel pump replace??

Well, my VX stalled out a couple times then check engine light came on.. So made it to the mechanic and he told me it was do to low fuel pressure. having replaced a pump before I just picked one up along with the filter and got to work. BUT, I can't figure out how to get the dang cover off the tank. Seems that it hooks under the rear bumper some how. But I can't get the bumper off. Can anyone help?

you may want to talk to JoFotoz about that. He was talking last month about how big of a pain it was to drop the tank. Others have mentioned it would be easier to cut a hole in the floorboard above the tank. Im not going to say anything else in fear i may jinx myself and have to do the same. All that said, I will leave you with a "good luck"!

    Yea... its a real PITA!

And I wasnt concerned with putting it back in ,
as it was a crashed VX I was stripping.

Rear cladding and rear 'impact bar' need removing in order to extract tank.
And getting hands / tools in the confined spaces to disconnect fill hose, electrics, return and feed lines etc is gnarly.

If I ever have to do fuel pump etc on the ORW....
.....I'll cut the rear floor FOR SURE... and make a hatch.

Sorry to be a downer about it..but thats my experience with this.

You wouldn't happen to have instructions for that would you? I have found got all the screws out of the rear number but can't get it off.

    Sorry Tony...no "instructions" per se...
..I just kept taking bits apart!

If its the rear cladding you are talking about..
...there are sneaky fasteners under the back edge
of the side / rear cladding too.

You need to release back portion of rear side cladding
    to get at them.

    Hope that helps.

Look up the instructions for upgraded hitch installation. Tom4Bren should have it.

    Wrench

It isn't a walk in the park but if you've got access to a Trooper Haynes manual that'll get you most of the way there. As Jo mentions you've got to fiddle with the cladding a bit but all in all it's a determined afternoon (and maybe early evening) job. I've dropped several Isuzu tanks so aren't as fazed by it as the first one so once it's over with you won't be so disinclined to tackle again. Just make sure to invest in a good quality fuel pump so you won't have to! I've had great success with the Bosch pumps and don't forget to put in a new sock. I also replace all the flexible fuel lines and clamps (don't skimp!) while I've the opportunity.
Over 20 years of Isuzu enjoyment...
