Waterpump and timing belt change

I have 180,000 miles on the original water pump and timing belt so I figure it's about time to do it. Will jump on it this weekend if the weather is ok.

Have fun. I did mine at 150k. I can pretty much guarantee your old belt will be stretched...mine was stretched about 1/2 an inch.

Did mine a few weekends ends ago, change your thermostat while you have the intake off, mine had 128K and the black plastic that holds the thermostat together was deteriorated bad. I used the "How To" from this forum. It had some helpful info... such as the 2-10mm bolts on the back of the intake that hold the fuel lines. Or the oh so fun EGR pipe fitting. Good luck.

To do the water pump/timing belt you do not need to remove the intake manifold.

Thanks I did the thermostat last year and I went out and bought a cheap short socket set at autozone. Took off the intake the lines and I was able to change it with a swivel 1/4 attachment.About an hour total. It was very tight in there tho. The worst part was I dropped a bolt down by the thermostat housing had to go back to the auto parts store to get an extension magnet $6.99 save my but tho. My hands would not fit in there lol

Sorry, my bad, was doing 2 things at the same time, replaced the timing belt/water pump and put on the S/C and did everything all at the same time.

So I tackled the timing belt and water pump this weekend. Not to bad it was actually really easy. with an air ratchet total time was 2.5 hours. my belt was really stretched about 2" past the notches. Glad I did it runs a lot better now. Anyone in the area that needs help let me know I will help.
