I need of a set of transfer case drop brackets.

In need of a set* So im planning on having the 3 inch Calmini suspension lift installed on the VX @ 4WHEELPARTS of Austin TX. But the lift kit doesn't come with drop down brackets.

The Calmini kit is NOT worth the money.... IMO, and most others too!

All you need is new rear coils ( Old man Emu brand)...
... and crank the torsion bars to lift the front.

A total of about $200 with alignment..and about 3 hours pretty easy driveway work.....
..... not the HUGE calmini cost.... or the cost to have it fitted.

As for the drop..thats for the Diff..not the T/case...
..and unless you are lifting more than 3 inches,or fitting tires greater
than 33 diam.... its not really required.

I ran mine on 33's with about 3.5 inches of lift for years...
..only put the diff drop on when I went to 35's

You may however find that once you do the lift, the CV boots will tear.
This is often because they have become "accustomed" to the previous angle.

Simply replacing them with new ones should be good.

And you might as well pop for the Firestone lifetime alignment. Cheaper in the long run. I think I paid $130ish or so.

... we've got it down to a couple of hours... avec cocktail & ciggy breaks !


Three hours was just being generous... for a first timer.

Gotta say, I find disconnecting shocks quicker/easier.

I think I could probably do it in 25-30 mins w/my drill instead of using hand tools + my quick-lift floor jack, but I *shouldn't* have to do this again....at least not until I get another VX

Member Joe Darlington still sells the modified brackets. If push comes to shove, I could still get Welder Guy to do them but I'd rather you went to Joe.

You will also want to consider an adjustable rear upper link. After I lifted my VX I would get vibration from the rear. Turns out the lift caused a bad angle at the rear u-joint. The adjustable link corrects the drive angle for smooth driving.

Actually, it's the CV joints. The Diff Drop will actually just move some of the CV joint angle over to the U Joint so the drop could actually cause your U Joint to wear quicker.

That said ... about 1/2 the people who lift the VX end up tearing a CV boot within weeks or months. The other half (lucky bastards) never have a problem. Guess which group I was in.

I only remember one or two owners that have installed the diff drops that have had issues with their U Joint.

I have been running lifted for 6 years, never had a problem with the drive shaft U joint, but went through plenty of CV joint boots. I dropped the front diff, but now I eat front prop shafts. If it isn't one thing, it is another.
