2001 Ironman Daily Driver... 3.5" suspension lift (OME912 springs and 1" spring spacer), ball joint flip, 1.5" front diff. drop, 33"x12.5 TrXus MT, 16x10 Eagle Alloy rims, Interceptor, PV muffler, K&N air filter, Alpine Supercharger, Bilstein shocks, and some trimming.

I've been thinking of making my own (have done it in the past for other cars I have owned, and played around with some ideas for the VX).
If I was to go in on an intake buy, it would have to be for a non-metal one. Paultvx and I were toying with an idea, but since he is gone, I haven't thought much about it lately.
lol first thing tat comes to mine is a white pvc pipe with a cone filter on one end.....

Funny, but true! I have been that route! It is a good way to plan something and see it in action. I made my own CAI for my '97 Prelude, first with PVC, then with exhaust tubing. I got the angles right with the PVC, then cut everything to fit with the steel. It's an easy and cheap way to test!Originally posted by MZ-N10

I thought Tone was working on one special for SC'd engines.
Any thoughts on a hood scoop that directly feeds the intake? With the insert support structure bars the way they are, is there a place that you could reasonably cut a hole and get a good, fairly straight path for the intake air-flow? I guess it would assymetric so maybe a little ugly, but I imagine that would be even more effective than a cold-air box.
Just make sure the pvc is used for mock ups only. If for some reason it should get cracked or shatter it'll get sucked directly into the throttle body.
How about a metal one laminated with C/F?
acutally i was plannin to use vent piping...might not be as clean or smooth on the inside but you can make up for tat by pure size....and the best part...no cutting involved...just bend till it fits...

At one point I heard someone state that PVC can also put off dangerous fumes when heated. I can't say if it is true one way or another, but something to look into.
I was thinking about plastic wrapped in CF.
It's a fact that when burnt it gives off very poisonous and lethal fumes.
I know when plastic is heated, to a point, it gives off poisonous fumes... but I'm pretty sure that, if left in the correct area for an intake, and kept off of the engine or radiator, you probably wouldn't have a problem with melting it... or even breaking/cracking it.
