Gear indicator incorrect?

I tried searching but didn't seem to find an answer for this. Transmission shifts beautifully, but the gear indicator light on the dash seems a bit haywire. It will often read N when it's in D, and occasionally other random chaos. Doesn't affect proper operation though, and the gear selector is firmly in the notches for the proper gears (as indicated on the console).

Is this normal?

Somebody probably messed up the alignment of the mode selector switch when doing a transmission seal replacement. At least that's what I did to mine!
