just rearended a jeep, what now?

Hey all, I have a 2001 Ironman I've enjoyed for 8+ years, I just got into an accident and I'm thinking about cutting my losses. I have less then 50k on a rebuilt engine I just spent 6k for. (I only have liability ins.) it might otherwise be considered totaled with a repair quote at 5k+ and they hadn't had any luck sourcing parts. I can slowly seek out the items needed but I don't know if I'm up for putting another 5k into my VX. any idea how much I could get selling as-is and could I get more with a quick turnaround parting it out??

The shop said the hood and left fender will need minor tweaking then maybe paint.

    Parts needed...

    Front bumper cladding
    Front bumper reinforcement
    Grille
The vertical bracket behind the grille
    LH headlight
    LH signal light
    Radiator
    Condenser
    Small fan behind grille

    Extras...

32ish BFG all terain’s at 60% tread on snowflake wheels, also still have the stock rims.
Old man emu HD rear springs
    Dif Drop
    HD torsion bars.
    Steel braded brake lines
    Newer axle boots
    Stock roof rack
    Moon roof
    Class III hitch
Super bright LED’s added to cargo area that can be turned on/off from the dash or rear.
Outlet also added to the cargo area with inverter under the driver seat.

I cast some new spare tire cover thumb knobs so there are extras and they all have aluminum tubes cast into them for strength.
Rubber gaskets look good all around, those were all replaced in ‘07 when I bought the car.
Windows bind worst the drivers side
Red interior, leather seats are showing wear except the rear seat since I took it out a long time back.
There are three dings in the body.
Gas tank door starting to wobble and I expect that to go soon.

    I'd greatly appreciate your suggestions.

Keep it. You don't need the bumper cladding/reinforcement; just do what Jo has & rip it all off to install a brush-guard instead. That also practically eliminates the need for a grille, though you can jury-rig one up behind the brush guard with budget-priced mesh. The rest you can either buy from a part-out or (with radiator) maybe find online somewhere.

And the good news is, with a brush-guard in place, if you ever smack a jeep again, the jeep will feel it more.

    Hiya Ryan

    I PM'd you.

Its not so much a 'brush guard" as a full on Rock Bumper....
It might work... but its also a bit costly.. about $1200-$1500
for parts and modifications, depending on final design.
