Door handles life-hacked?

So apparently door-handles on the VX are a known problem, and I think I might have a suitable "good enough" fix for it. Lizard Skins makes chainstay protectors like these:

I've got a spare set floating around somewhere, and I'm going to cut them in half and wrap them around the handles to hold them together. No results yet, but I will post when I have pics. Just thought I'd share my idea.

Black electrical tape works great. I only have it wrapped once on the end.
