    Axiom transmission in VX

We all know that 02/03 Axiom engine works great in VX ( http://www.vehicross.info/showthread...E1-%28late%29? )

But what about Axiom transmission? Is it compatible?
96 Eclipse Spyder GSX (already turbo, AWD swap)
93 Eagle Summit AWD (4G63 turbo swaps)

Probably impossible to determine without a direct test-fit. A couple things I'd look at though. 1st, check the actual transmission part numbers. I'm unfamiliar with the Axiom trans, but if it's also a 4WD TOD, 4-speed trans, then it's likely got the same internals as the VX trans. As an example, my Mitsubishi GTO runs the same ATX trans internals as the AWD DSM's; the difference is the bell-housings. Second, I'd verify that the location of the trans is in the same spot in the Axiom as in the VX, and that the bay layout is fairly similar. Getting overall external measurements should help.

The good news is that if Axiom engines are fairly plug/play, then the Axiom trans should also bolt up fine. It's just the clearancing that might present a problem.

Right, that is why I was hoping to find someone who might have done this swap.

I am pretty confident that mechanically they will fit, my biggest concern is with the electrical compatibility.

And you must be talking about automatic Mitsu transmissions, because manual transmissions are quite different

Yeah, the Getrag's are POS's--and super expensive to repair. That's why you see so may people drag racing with the w4a33/f4a33.

Looks like junk yard interchangeability guide shows that 98/99 Trooper transmissions are compatible with 99-00 VX. Which leads me to the follow up questions:

Was '01 transmission actually different from '99-'00 or is this just a mistake?
What changed in '00+ Trooper transmission? Is this something significant or just a matter of switching some sensors?

You might do better to hop on the Planet Isuzoo forum and ask Jerry Lemond.

VX 00 & 01 are different than the 99. Some of the solenoids changed. If you pick up a 99 tranny for an 00+ VX you'll also need the tranny computer.
