VX TOD not working, Can it still be driven. Cost to fix?

    Hi Everybody,

    Background:
Currently my TOD is flashing 'check'. Diagnostic codes are 13, 14 and 24. Based on this I believe the issue is in the wiring harness.
I'm not looking for information on how to diagnose or fix the TOD.

    Questions:
First: What I'd like to confirm is: Is it OK to drive? TOD lights indicate that it is in rear wheel drive. I believe this is OK to drive from what I've researched.
Second: I was prepping the car for sale when this happened. If the car is OK to drive, what dollar amount would you take off the price due to this issue? I just don't want to have it fixed or fix it myself.

This has been a great car for me for the last 12 years and I have really enjoyed it but, it's time to move on.
Thanks to everyone on the forum.

    Bill

    Hi Everybody,
An update on my TOD woes:
I decided to get the TOD fixed since it appears you should not drive for very long with it in this condition.

I traced the problem to the rear speed sensor but I couldn't get it out. BTW-If you follow the troubleshooting guide in the manual it can lead to a misdiagnose of a bad TOD computer.
At this point I decided to get some help. It is at a auto repair facility with some Isuzu experience.
They found that the speed sensors can be bought from Ford. Go figure.
The also diagnosed both sensors as being bad so they replaced both of them.
However, as of Friday they were still getting the front and rear speed sensor errors, 14 and 24.
It is believed this is a wiring problem so they will continue next week.
I will post an update once it is fixed with details.

    Hi Everybody,
Final update on the TOD woes, (I hope):

The Ford Motorcraft sensors did not work. At least not correctly. The check light would only go off when the car was in motion. The TOD dash front wheel lights never came on.

The is some talk here and on other Isuzu forums about an Isuzu expert stating they work, Jerry Lemond, JLEMOND.
But, one post I found by Jerry stated he was having some issues, too. I reached out to him on Planet Isuzu but haven't gotten a response.
I get the feeling these might work but it's hit or miss. BTW these sensors cost about $80 each. PN SW5644 and SW5645.

The shop ended up buying transfer cases from the salvage yard to get the correct sensors.
These can be found new on various Honda and Isuzu sites for about $350 each.
PN's are 8-97251-685-0 (rear) and 8-97251-686-0 (front). Google those numbers and you will find them.

If you are in the Boulder Colorado area. Haglin Automotive is the shop that helped me. They know a lot about Isuzus and now they know more about the Vehicross lol.

Everything seems to be working correctly. I will post if that changes.
