5000 is the capacity of the Trooper frame and drivetrain that the VX is built on. The hitch I offer is capable of pulling that much as well.

The hitch that you sell tows that much? that is really good to know!!! SO the bumper supports that as well? Sheez, that is really nice to know!!! Now I really want to get one of those cool old metal/tin round round camping trailers. My friend restored one when I was 15 and I saw him do it., he painted it all black and had tinted windows in it and after remembering that, I think tha twould look sweet behind a VX.... awesome!

Tone's hitch attaches to the last frame cross-member and not the bumper (the VX bumper support and bumper cover actually have to be cut for the hitch to install). Tone has some images on his site you can look at...

the one i have bolts to the frame just like any other truck and you do not need to cut the bumper or bumper cover ! i got it from u-haul they told me it was rated at 3500lbs becouse of the wheel base they said it would be safe to haul any more then that.

I've towed my Corvette and trailer with the VX, probably 5500+ lbs with a Dalan hitch. The VX does it with no problems but I can feel the short wheelbase as being a risk. It certainly does not feel as secure as when I use my wife's gunboat Expedition. My advise would be to be very careful - no bad weather and plan braking as best you can.

    Thumbs up Tone's Hitch

Easy to install....strong, astethic (somewhat hidden), no loss in rear ground clearance, great price.....

For those using Tone's hitch, what drop do you use? I finally bought a hitch today, to fit in Tone's receiver, but it came in a 2" drop or 4" drop. I bought the 4" drop but it sorta looks funny when installed. Thought I would check with the group to see what is normally used before returning it.

i just ordered one of Tones hitch kits today, im looking forward to installing it. Ill only need it on occasion to dolly my 924T( 2800lbs)from here to there on occasion until the resto is complete, and maybe a utility trailer once in awhile. But after searching around a bit it seems the best deal out there, and made by some one who knows Vehicross's, what more could i ask for?
though im gonna cringe when i have to cut the cladding.....
