    Headlight Lens ? for Carlymac

Carlymac posted this on the other board...
I had both lenses replaced under warrantee. The fell victim to the little scratches. anyhow the Lens part number is:
    Lens,Lamp right/8-97212-447-0 $18.02
    left/ 8-97212-448-0 $18.02
These are the lenses only, so the old lenses have to be removed from the assymbly and the new lenses glued back on. the whole assymbly costs $299.34
Question is, What type of adhessive was used to glue the lens back on? Did you do this yourself or did the shop do it. Mine are scrathed and $40 sounds much better than $500. I know there is a post on this board that tells how to take the headlight assembly apart!

To seal, you might try a small bead of black RTV or silicone. They won't be easy to re-open after that, though.

    Lightbulb Answer for Triathlete

I had my dealer replace the lenses. It was a warranty issue so I dont know how they cracked open the old assymblies. There is evedence of some sort of clear glue (silicon looking) around the lens/housing joints. I remember Ron posting about tring to open the headlamp assymbly but, I don't remeber seeing the outcome. The part numbers were ascertained through a parts list I bought off ebay...so far the part #'s have been accurate. Sorry I couldn't give a step by step but maybe Ron has the answer you seek...carl

Does that parts list show seperate part numbers for the equivalent lenses for the rear light assemblies? I'm doubting it, but just in case, I figured I'd ask.
