Ractive Filter

Just put one of these on:

Obviously more responsive and a little more torque/HP. I'm a little concerned that it may be too small, since it was designed more for rice rockets than trucks. Any thoughts?

Any performance stats on the filter??? It looks nice, but don't think I personally need a heatshield filter in Alaksa (at least this time of the year....

Contact the manufacturer and ask the largest engine displacement they recommend it for? Otherwise, since it has a 3" opening it should be alright.

Hmmm...It should be cool on displacement since they sell the same filter specifically for the Maxima (also a 3.5). Don't know about quality though....maybe I should stick to K&N? The heat shield isn't for outside air, it's to shield the filter from engine heat. If you pull your stock airbox AND intake elbow, and point the end of the filter directly at the hole, in theory it sucks cold air from outside the engine compartment without the air being heated up along the way...note "in theory."

Eck, have you tried this air intake from Calmini? I am new to the VX and all aftermarket off-road companies. So just curious as to their quality.

No unfortunatly I havent.... I do alot of off-roading through rivers and dont wanna suck up water.... But they do have a money back warrantee and is made specificly for the vx so I imagine it would be pretty good. I do know someone with a calmini intake on their Trooper and has had no problems.... It does look like it fits the best out of our other options tho.....

Thanks for the feedback. The more I have looked at their setup, it appears to be just the filter and a bracket. So gonna do a little research, maybe I can find a K&N Cone to fit for that application. Baby steps for the new kid.
