    Fork Mount Bike Rack

    I have found a product that fits onto our factory Cross Bars without modification. This avoids the Yakima wing clips and the large, heavy stand up bike carrier, or the Load Warrior basket.

    Here is the link:

    I bought mine at RackAttack (can't find on their website) in Denver, CO for right around $100, before my move to Ohio, so I know it fits. Once I can get a good weather day and I am prepared, I will post pictures of my VX in all it's glory. ;pp;

    Nice find - do you have it and verified it works on our racks?

    How strong is it if you shake the bike side to side?

    Hmmmm... Haven't tried that. The front (fork) end mounts have a large plate, so it looks sturdy. The back end has mounts simular to the Yakima Load warrior. I have had other styles of racks for different autos and this one looks just as sturdy/rigid as the next.

    So you DON'T have this mount on your VX stock racks or do you? Looks like and really does are different statements. How about some pics on the vX?

    Ok...

    I have the OEM cross bars, with the fork mounted, bike rack on my VX. I do not have pictures as yet. Sorry I am slow about getting that done. I have not shaken my bike while it is on the rack.

    I have it and can verify that it works fine/is functional.

    What else?

    Thanks... but

    The rack I am talking about isn't listed, that I can find, so I included the manufacturers link in an earlier post.

    Excellent Find. I bought the wingmounts to be disappointed at my bike carrying options, but this should do the trick....

    thanks!

    Looks like fairing is attached to a round bar. I did look into one for our wing bars, but Yakima doesn't make one (I am told). My guess is that some modifications would be needed to the one shown, to fit the wing cross bars.

    That's my VX in the picture. I used an extra set of mighty mounts and 1 inch pvc waterline pipe to mount the Yakima fairing. Really simple mod. I just painted the white pvc black. I used metal pvc pipe hanger to hold the round piece to the mighty mounts. It has been like that for about a year and a half. No problems.
