I recently bought my VX, previous owners had no respect for it so a few things need attention, one thing is the suspension, Is the ride meant to be really hard? If i drove over a needle i could feel it!

That's to your advantage of course. Taking tight corners at higher speeds is now easier than ever!
A good adjustable aftermarket shock replacement can remedy that. I recently purchased some Rancho RS9000 shocks that can adjust from soft to firm. Hopefully, they work out well. I would like the ability to soften it up for everyday use and then to stiffen it up when they going gets tough.
