    Question Wider tires in the back......

    Do you guys think there would be a problem going wider in the back if the diameters are kept close? I was thinking something like
    275/55/18 up front and 335/45/18 in the rear.

    Any TOD issues that I need to worry about (the diameters should be 29.90 vs. 29.87)? What about stability?

    I know the custom wheels would cost an arm and a leg....

    What do you think?

    Heres the problem, the static size of the tire is unimportant, its the dynamic size that will mess you up. Both of those tires will 'grow' at a different rate while spinning.

    It will eat up your center diff friction surfaces, its just a question of how long it will last.

    It will also adversely affect handling. Why not go with wide tires all the way around where you will be able to maximize wear with proper rotation? More than .25-.5" of difference in diameter f-r will wreak havoc on the TOD system.

    You could probably get away with it if you added a power switch to the TOD and only enable it when its wet out or whatnot... of course I could be wrong about that. Anyone?! If you did it, I'd keep an eye on how much more frequently the TOD lights flicker.
