Clear mask material

My brother sent me this link, and it looked like it could be another viable option comparable to the 3M protective mask material that I've seen discussed here before.

There weren't any specialty items (already cut) for the VehiCross, but a person could probably make due with the bulk material. Making professional looking cuts would probably be the hardest part of the application.

I recently installed the 3M film. Didn't go as easy as it looked in the video. The precut piece seemed a little too long and kept creasing when I tried to apply it. Finally had to cut it in the middle to get the air out. Let me know if someone knows a better way. Maybe next time I'll have it professionally installed.

That actually IS the 3M ScothCal material, just being sold by a different company.

I purchased the InvincaShield kit for the VX... see THIS thread.

I received the kit yesterday and laid it out for install today. I will give it a go and see how it installs. I expect a not-so-easy install from what I have heard from others on here, but we will see!

Any pics of the install? I tried installing the hood piece and could NOT get it to go on! You're right, it seemed just slightly too long. After about an hour of creasing the hell out of it, trying to get the bubbles out, I ripped it off, crunched it into a ball, and threw it into the trash. I as so pi$$ed off!!!!

I still have the other pieces I ordered, and I'll probably put those on this week sometime. I may order another hood piece as well, but I'd like any pointers on getting that damn piece on (if I gotta cut it, I will!!!)

Hey Guys.....is this stuff like a clear thin vinyl? I have a small sign business (car decals too) and the way we apply alot of our decals is with a soap/water mixture.....here is a link http://www.members.shaw.ca/xperiment626/ to the directions I give out to our customers who buy the small decals for their vehicles (scroll to the "wet method").....dunno if it would work for this material because it's a pretty large piece you are trying to apply. I wish I had a perfect template for our VX's front end. I could make computer cut paint protectors for us......maybe I'll try and design one

Maybe you could design some NASA logos to replace the rear ISUZU logo, like, I believe AlaskaVX did.

If you want a template, just order a VX kit from Stone-Gard. The material must stretch over the compound curves to 'fit', but it is a 2-D template. The long version comes back to the hood insert.

Maybe try warming the film in the sun for a little while before installing, to make it more flexible?
