i havent really been to fond of anything porsche has put out since they did away with the 928 and 968 lines..IMHO theyve simpy become too "civilized" , however, theres no argueing the perfromance aspects of the new lines.. including the cayanne.. and porsche did indeed do their home work with the suv... ive read several reports from the testing phases..including off road, in which it out performed and was more reliable than anything it was up against..in one it had put the X-5 to shame in a bad way..
maybe in ten years ill replace my VX with a cayanne turbo...i should be able to afford one by then... but for now im quite happy with my VX, and its very "porsche like" more than most people realise..

I agree SOOOOOO much with that. I used to pick up the set of three brochures that Porsche put out for each of its three cars every year and wonder for months which was the most beautiful until the new catalogs came out the next year. Each was totally different in style and substance but perfect in its own way. Now I just look at Poorches and wonder what happened. They are all ugly and that fat-*** wagon is the worst. I'm sure it's fun to drive something with that much power, but with style like that I'll just walk. So gross. Yuck. It's the exact same thing that's now happening to BMWs. Scary.
Canadian VXer!
Agree w/ Mr. Tew
If it helps a person even more with the Ladies... Then it can't be that bad.
If you need a car to have luck with the ladies, then I suggest you invest some of that money at a store like Men's Warehouse, Burlington Coat Factory, Foley's, etc.
Maybe the new wardrobe will help you more.
PS - I am not talking about anyone in particular, just making a funny comment. By the way, I get plenty lucky with the ladies and my VX...
We have a lot of those driving around here in Boston. I like the front and the sides, but when I'm behind one it just looks too plain, and I wonder why they didn't do a little something more with it.
The offroad mags really seemed to like it, but I can't comment. Since it's a porsche, I probably won't be test-driving one anytime soon.
All those pix are aftermarket, right?? That red interior sure is bright! To each their own I guess. I wouldn't mind having that airbag suspension system, though.

I like the looks of them but i agree with some others that they were lowered too much. They kinda look like big stationwagons, now don't get me wrong i am all about the street suv but that is a little too low for my taste.
Drive it like ya stole it!!!

I agree w/Mrtew.
Only Porshe could make something that ugly and still sell it at that price.
Engineering is right on.
The styling is not.
The styling crew at Porshe should replaced or made to review the companys legacy.
If its such a rightful successor to the VX, I really dont understand why everyone (or anyone) has not tossed their VX's and bought one.
Vehicles like that keep up my appreciation of the engineering and style that went onto the VX.
At this point, I doubt that we will see another vehicle with the high product value to price ratio as our VX.
Cheers,
Reg
VX's don't need no stinking mod's.
But they're sure fun!
I appreciate the style and engineering of the exterior and chassis... but the interior of the VX is pretty blah. I was impressed with the Recaro seats, but they put those in Porches as well!
They put Recaros in Porsches because Recaro is sort of a spin-off from Porsche taking over part of the company Recaro came from. The company that originally built bodies for Porsche, like VW Beetles.
As for those Cayennes, I think those pics prove there's more than one way to make an ugly car uglier. Those black wheels are hideous.
And no, I don't see the point to rallying a 5200lb truck.
And Dallas...a little sensitive, huh? Sure you can lift a sportscar, but the problem isn't that you're not supposed to. It's that when you lift a sportscar, you don't get a truck as the result. You get a sportscar you cannot drive fast, and a lifted vehicle that cannot take advantage of the lift.
Lowering a Cayenne is the same thing. You can lower it all you like, but it's still 5200lbs, and as fast as it might be, you still can't drive it like a sportscar in the twisties.
I like my trucks to be trucks, and my cars to be cars. I don't need to drive an identity crisis. I used to have a Typhoon, and it was a lot of fun. My M3 is better at everything my Typhoon was even good at though... Well, except for that one time I moved a bookshelf for a friend in the Typhoon. Whoopee. Not a good reason to buy a Typhoon methinks.

Nope, not really sensitive about the subject. I just didn't understand the bashing that was going on. 500 hp and no bite... didn't make sense. Low to the ground and powerful... whether an SUV or sports car, I don't really see why it matters.Originally posted by Daver
