    Who turned out the lights???

Hello everyone!! This is my first post and I'm sorry to be asking for help. For some reason, the lights that should light the AC button, heater and climate control area are not working. I tried to find a fuse that could be out but no luck. Also, what is the easiest way to get to the marker lights just below the headlights? One is burned out. I saw the mod for replacing them with the Hella driving lights. Is that the only way to even change the bulb? Thanks again everyone! Great forum!!!

For the a/c lights, is it possible that the bulbs have gradually burned out and you just noticed it when the last one went?

You are checking the fuse box on the left side of the dash?

Has anything been tapped into the wiring for the a/c lights?

You may need to pull the bezel and a/c controls and check the light sockets for voltage.

The round marker/driving light housing twists and pulls out fron the front, but you may have to get a hand behind the claddind to grip it . The bulb socket twists and pulls out of the housing.

Thank you for your reply! yes the fuse box between the dash and the driver door. I looked at the dash for a clue of where it may come apart but only found the two screws that are in the plastic part beneath the stearing wheel. I thought the marker lights may unscrew but was unsure, thank you.

    Sauwill,
I don't know about the '99, but on the '01, there are only a couple of bulbs that light that area - it's possible that they are bad. It would not be a fuse, because all the dash lights are on the same circuit - it has to be bulbs or a bad connection. To remove the dash panel, remove the two screws above the speedo, one above the radio, and the two around the steering wheel. The dash panel will then pull off (it has retainer clips-so it will take some effort). After the panel is removed, you can get to the screws that hold in the A/C controls. On the '01 you have to remove the control from the dash to replace the lights - I assume it is the same for the '99.

Also, when pulling the dash piece out be carefull. There are wires attached to it that are fairly short. If you pull it out too far you will pull the plug off whick is a PITA to reconnect unless you have the hands and flexibility of a 8 year old. Good luck in finding your problem and welcome to the VX family.
