99's are 5 years old and 01's are 3 years years old. Magic times for leases and payments.

I really hate letting it go, but it is not etched in stone yet, no real leads. I mentioned before, when I saw the VX in 1999 for the first time I fell in love, head over heels. But I think it is time to try to get the car of my dreams since I was a child, Jaguar XJ8 Vander Plas.

I really dont want to sell my VX, but I need a vehicle to truck Kayaks and MT Bikes around for the shop I have, Its funny because now I have to find a vehicle I can settle for,and thats rough when you had a VX.

    Unhappy VX problems and selling

I'm doing my due dilligence before I buy my first VX and it looks as though there are more problems than people are letting on to. Does anyone know what Isuzu is doing about the problems? or are they just brushing them aside. It seems to me that the problems are not hit or miss but chronic problems that should be addressed by Isuzu (i.e. power windows, rotors)......sorry to be so down on the VX right now, but somebody give me some good news huh?

    NO PROBS WHAT SO EVER

TELL A LIE MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONCE BUT THAT WAS DUE TO FUEL CAP BEING LOOSE

I HAVE HEARD THAT THE 3.5 DOES SUFFER FROM LITTLE PROBLEMS BUT THE LOOK AND THE WAY IT DRIVES OUTWAYS THESE LITTLE PROBLEMS

My VX was in the shop one time after I got it, just to fix the window issue, but it did it again. Then I found this site, did the fix myself and voila'. No major problems at all. The only time my VX sees a mechanic stall, is to change the oil, fluids, etc, routine maintenance. Trust me, the way I run mine, I am really surprised and pleased. Any other of the vehicles I have owned, had they taken a beating like my VX, would've been in the shop at least six months out of the year, on and off.

Consider a roof rack ........... or a small trailer .......
    .
otherwise ........ you may be interested in the new (improved) Nissan XTerra ......... not a VX, but might be the ticket .......

The VX does have some issues .......
    .
There have been some issues with some 3.5 engines .....
    .
The windows will need to be addressed .......
    .
The rotors ......... rotors can be an issue with just about any vehicle out there ....... the VX rotors appear to be 'no worse' than any others out there ...... in fact, I would suggest the VX pads and rotors appear to be more than up to the job .........
    .
The good news is that the VX is a unique vehicle - unique in appearance and performance - and appears to be a decent vehicle in terms of reliability ...........

You must remember that for every seller of their VX, their is a new buyer.

And the profiles of the VX owners will be changing as our vehicle ages, and also passes into newer hands. Some people will drive their venerable VX into an early grave, and others will treat the VX as a real undiscovered, and unique classic that will grow into a long term committment to preserve and enjoy it.

This site, I think, will become more and more specific to those of us who look at the VX as a classic anomaly of form and design, and will do what we can to etch out the VX's proper place in auto history.... all the while enjoying the ever increasing scarcity of the VX itself.

I have two of these great vehicles, and they will remain with me for a very long time into the future.

    Lightbulb reply

The thing that bothers me is I'm from NYC. Can the VX hold up to the constant pounding. I am the original owner of a 1987 Ford Escort Gt that has only 60,000 miles on it I take very good care of my cars and any VX that I purchase would be also babied by me too.

I think the owners have told the truth. Do a search on the archives and you will see owners responses.

Since the end of the production line was 2001 and we are already half way through 2004 plus the fact that dealers are closing shop through out the country then I would not hold your breath.

If you like the VX then by all means buy one. What you can DO is know what the problems are on the VX and focus your attention to those problem details. The Good News is that some of the VX problems have remedies and some need to be inspected very closely I.E. Engine failure. There are many posts on this and some methods to deter this problem. Take some of that information and question the owner when you buy it. If Engine failure is a BIG worry then you might consider paying extra for a 2001 so you have some of that warranty coverage.

    Good Luck,

isuzu probably isnt goin to do anything about these problems....but these problems dont happen to every vx....i had my vx for alittle over a year now and put about 10k miles on it, and i havent run into the the window problem. i did have the rubber seals on the headlights come loose...but nothing a little krazyglue couldnt fix.....and the engine blowing up at 60k miles isnt a vx specific problem. the absolute worst part of the vx has to be rear visablity...ive backed into so many cars its not even funny...

46k on my VX. The only issues I've had were a window regulator going out (covered by the warranty) and a loose EGR throwing a code (fixed in 10 minutes). It's one of the best driving vehicles I've ever owned (and I've owned many vehicles) and I'll probably be buried in it.

I think Isuzu will make a come back - the most recent abandonment of the US has more to do with they're severing the bad relationship they have with GM than anything. I think they'll come on strong in a couple of years.

    ..... more ......
    .
the MAJOR issue with the VX ..........
    .
Color ....... it can be difficult to choose the color.
    .
And sometimes, one VX is just not enough.
