    Unhappy Drivetrain

Took my 2001 VX in for a front bearing pack 60,000 mi. and also found out that right rear seal was blown Had gear oil all over brake and rotor assembly. Having both sides replaced. 895.00.
Does this blown seal seem a little premature? Also How do you do a transmission flush and refill? Does the tranny and power steering share the same fill area. is this something that has to be done at the dealer?

    duh,

do a search and you will find the answers.

no, the power steering does not share the transmission fluid...it IS filled with Dextron III fluid though, as is the T-case and Tranny.

    Same fluid, different fluid reservoirs.

Tranny has a fill hole on up top and drain hole down bottom. I believe Isuzu wanted $300 from me for servicing the tranny which only included a drain/fill and changing out filter.

when they power flush they hook up a pressurized machine and use about 3 or 4 extra quarts of fluid to flush out old fluid.

    Re: Drivetrain

[WoW both rear seals replaced for $850 that seems to me to be way out of line.

Complete Transmission flush should be about $80 at specialized shop. Do not go to Jiffy Lube.

Power steering fluid replacement is separate & you must disconnect line at pump and drain & refill & bleed etc.

That's about 60 bucks in parts and 10 to 12 hours @ labor rate of $80- 100/ hour. They should be able to do it faster than that, as you could probably do it in your driveway in that time.

I had all of those things done FREE under warranty at 70k.. it's part of the 10/120000 powertrain warranty. Are you the second owner, are there limitations to the warranty when the title transfers?

I'am 2nd owner. Warranty does not transfer. I'll do the work myself. You know I'am from S.C. If I need to I can clean or store parts in the bathtub. HAAA!

    I'm

original owner and have 61,000 miles. they said they called Isuzu America and the TOD and the T-case were not covered under the 10 year/120,000 mile warranty. They said I had to have brought it in under the 50,000 mile bumper to bumper

They're giving you the run around... look at your warranty book, in bold print they have this line "What is covered" and it lists the transmission and everything. I'd have to run out to the car to get the book, but someone here might have it handy. I actually had to get it out to show the isuzu dealer for them to believe me. They were like "man, that's a good warranty"...... Right now i have a slight knock in the steering, if I jiggle the wheel from left to right I can hear a click, so I'm going to have that checked out and the entire steering mechanism is covered as well. This warranty does cover tons of things you wouldn't traditionally think of "powertrain". Now if I can just get them to replace my blistered wheels....

    if,

I would have brought it in with under 50,000 miles, they would have told me it was not covered over 36,000.

serious, everytime I bring it in and try to get them to honor the warranty, they say all sorts of assinine things such as "Sorry, you have an after market aircleaner and that changes everything, you have moded your truck".
