    shocks for lift?

OK I am doing a 3.5" lift, 2.5" from OME springs, and 1" poly spring spacers. What is the ideal measurements? From my research I have come to the conclusion of using.....

Stock front shocks= 15.35"x10.24" and these dimensions do not change, so I would use Bilsein OE performance series- B46-1738 H1?

Stock rear shocks= 19.25"x12.56" so after adding 3.5" of lift I would use Bilstein 5150 series- BF5-A195-H1 which measure 22.5"x14.17"?

Please no comments like "run stock shocks" as I want to replace all 4 of them. Thank You!

good question? Not sure how much life is left in them, I really put a beating on these shocks..... jumping, rallycross, hard corners, offroading, for 64,000 miles. Once I get them out I will let them go for real cheap.

Be sure your rear brake lines including the center line will take the extra 3.25" of droop and put on the 2" bump-stop extension to avoid bottoming out the extra 2+" of the rears. I haven't measured the shock at full stuff into the wheel wells on the rears but that extra length might be a problem witout the extension.

    AlaskaVX,
Another opinion I got from a Bilstein dealer that outfits Baha racers was to spend a little more for a much better (and owner rebuildable) shock, the 7100 reservior shock.
This guy's opinion was that the 5150 was just more marketing hype and looks than substance.
He agreed that our front shock was a real problem to find a replacement for. He suggested looking into a upper conversion unit that accepts a standard eye to eye shock. A lot of the jeep guys use them.
Let us know what you end up with.
    VX's don't need no stinking mod's.
    But they're sure fun!
