Need Help w/ Wheels & Tires!

The wheels are 18 x 10 with +10mm offset.

What is the max size tires can i fit? 285/60 or 285/55 ?

I don't mind trimming on the inside. I'm afraid of rubbing on the outside.

ANYONE WITH EXPERIENCE PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks!
Steve

..

I believe you could go with 12.5 inches wide...........but it all depends on the room you have...ie cutting, lift etc...

Well, up front i was planning to drop it ~1". If it gets too tight, though, I'll leave it stock. My question isn't so much about the width as the diameter. I can't go smaller than a 285 (~11.5") on these wheels , and it's a common size. I want to stick with street tires here.
Setup Diameter Width Offset
--------- --------- --------- ---------
Stock 29.6" ~9.5" +38mm (1.5")
285/55 30.3" ~11.5" +10mm (0.5")
285/60 31.5" ~11.5" +10mm (0.5")
So the new tires will protrude 2" more than stock and will have a 0.7" - 1.9" greater diameter.

Question is will that extra 1.2" of diameter make the tires too big, or am I worrying too much (or not enough!)?

I had 31x11.5 Mickey Thompsons on 16" rims with a -24mm offset, they stuck out about 1.5"s and it only required minor trimming of the front cladding, front inside of fender.
Hope that helps

The 10” wide rims are going to cause the biggest problem as I stated in your other post on these wheels. Tire size is a mute point almost - you MIGHT get a 55 or 50 series tire to fit but they are still going to hit the rear fenderwells at the cladding edge. And if you are lowered as I thought you were, it will be even worse. I’ve tried 10” wheels before with a narrower tire to no avail. Please take pictures of what you encounter and prove me wrong

Tone,

I need more clarification here. I don't see how the 10" width of the wheel makes any difference? The offset of the centerline of the wheel determines the position of the tire relative to the fenders, and the width of the tire determines how far the tire protrudes from its centerline. What does the width of the wheel have to do with anything?

Let me give you an example:
• A 10" wheel with a 0 offset and a 285 (11.5") tire has a tire protrusion of 6.25" from mounting face, right?
• An 8" wheel with a 0 offset and a 285 tire has the same tire protrusion of 6.25", too (I think) right?

The only difference I see is that the 10" wheel will offer a more vertical sidewall profile, whereas the 8" wheel will have a more tapered sidewall, because it is significantly thinner than the tire in width.

Is there something I'm missing?

Please help, thanks.

Talking

I’m confused - you have 2 posts asking for help but then you think they will fit. Go ahead and do it then as you have made up your mind although your post says the new tires will stick out 2 more inches over stock and are taller. I certainly could be wrong. Please take pictures of it with the wheels cranked lock to lock. I fit 30x12.50s on 8” wide rims with minimal offset and had to lift it 3” AND cut the heck out of the back of the fenderwell.

Anyone else here running 10” rims?

And what size tire is that? Can’t believe at full turn it did not hit the back of the wheel well, it’s closer to it than the front section.
