    Just bought a Glasair SII-RG

Just flew it from Winnsboro, Louisiana to Boca Raton, Florida in 3.5 hours! This baby hauls butt.

I would like to put a picture in here, but don't know how.

Anyway ya'll can visit their website and see one like it.

Mine is like the "N902S" shown.

    Randy,
That is a wicked looking bird!! So, when do I get a ride?
I have been looking at a Radio controlled Glasair with a 64" wingspan. Very cool.

    Thumbs up

Very nice! The Glasair really set the standard for composite kit planes well before Lancair and Cirrus even put pen to paper. They still do well in many of the races as well, even against the newer designs.

I'm still a big fan of metal though when it comes to aircraft, especially since I cut my flying teeth with Cessnas. Here's what's been on my "to-do" list once the grass strip is finished, the Murphy Super Rebel 3500...

That's a beautiful airplane. Sure would be nice to have your very own plane. And Joe, you've got one too? I just want to know what you guys do to be able to throw down that much cash!

Damn I screwed up bad somewhere along the way...

No, don't have one myself... yet. Still at the mercy of rental madness at the local FBO, but that's the attraction of kitplanes. You can get a lot more airplane for less $$$ if you're willing to sacrifice your time. In Randy's case he was able to find an already built aircraft, which is usually still a bargain. You've just got to do a lot more research to verify the safety of the aircraft since it was built by someone other than a certificated manufacturing facility. If something peels off at altitude, well that's bad...

Yeah, and if you're waiting on someone to finish one for you, you don't push them to deliver it faster. Don't want any cutting corners. LOL!

They make some nifty helicopter kits too (Rotorway, Mini-500, CH-7 Angel). Of course, lots of them crash, but when a guy with no flight instruction builds one and hops in, well, yeah.

Joe-Black has it right. You either build an experimental airplane yourself and hope you did a good job, or; you buy one from someone else and hope they did a good job...

I bought this plane from a highly-respected engineer of the Glasair SII-S design. He now builds Glasairs for third-party guys (like me) and also owns the factory for the more impressive "Turbine Legend" which hauls around at more than 300 KTS!!!

    I have confidence! I bought a 4-time award winner!

Check out the Turbine Legend website...

    I still love my VehiCross!!!
