Is the stock muffler a Dynomax or do i have an aftermarket one? Thanks.

I had a dynomax on my 74 superbeetle.. it was too loud.. really bad. The isuzu stock muffler is kinda big/heavy/quiet... Plus, isn't dynomax a US made muffler?
Your stock muffler was not a Dynomax. The stock one will have some stampings on it but they are part #s and will mean nothing to you, so if your muffler hs Dynomax stamped on it then it was installed aftermarket.

Yeah it had Dynomax then some numbers 74142 or something like that. Checked online too....had a Turbo in the title as well.
I was asking because I'm buying a PV2 and I've read that it's on the loud side. My set up now has a pretty throaty...ie loud...sound at low rpm's now.
I was wondering if I was already hearing an aftermarket sound or the stock. I guess it's already louder than stock, which I don't mind, so hopefully the PV2 won't be much louder
Well good luck with the PV, i have heard a lot of complaints about them. People say that not only are they loud but the interior resonance is very loud as well.
just testing....been having problems posting things....
just one more for good measure
Yes, I read the issues with the loudness of the PV2. I thought what the hell, I'd give a try anyway. I think I'll take some of the advice too.....changing to a smaller tip....and maybe a resonater too. Like I said, it's already pretty throaty now...so hopefully it won't be too much louder...will have to wait and see.
