I like seeing how many have just faded away. 3 years ago, that VX was closing on 200k. Where is it now? The Proton with the painted cladding.....did this thing just slip into the ether?? We need to start tracking these cars, now...learn from the past. Did that blue one ever turn up??? How do you hide a blue VX??

i just rolled over 5000 miles since i bought her in april and it had 65,175 when i got her. some thing like 70,175 and only did an oil change on her....
:bgwgf course i have tinted the windows, removed the backseat and emblems, put the roof rack back on, strapped my full size spare where the backseat used to be and put new tyres on (for no real reason). upcoming plans include; reverse camera showing through a motorized dvd capable face, lambo doors, sunroof, brand new black and yellow leather seats, blackout all lights, replace those little lame lights up front with little projectors and those reflectors in back with brake lights of some sort. oh, LED everything i can and add those blue headlights i saw a post about recently.

97,000 for me, 4-5 CV's, a rear axle bearing (that took out ABS sensor $$$$)and a couple shocks. Been running oversize tires since 25,000 miles, supercharged at 40,000, 3.5" lift and 33's since 50,000.

Also a few exhaust wo's where the flange has popped off the manifold (both sides)

I would say that is pretty damn solid considering the driving that it has done.

2001 Ironman Daily Driver... 3.5" suspension lift (OME912 springs and 1" spring spacer), ball joint flip, 1.5" front diff. drop, 33"x12.5 TrXus MT, 16x10 Eagle Alloy rims, Interceptor, PV muffler, K&N air filter, Alpine Supercharger, Bilstein shocks, and some trimming.

2000 Ironman Project LS-1 VX... very slow progress but someday....... ohhhhh someday......

Mine has around 105000 miles and is dead as a doornail.

I think the previous owner ran it out of oil and did a quick bearing job to get it sold, which is why it blew up on me only 8k later. I'll know more when I get the engine out and pull the bearing caps. I know the engine has been out before and am pretty sure it had some bearings replaced since I found a used thrust bearing under the hood.

Fortunately, the replacement engine w/ 54000 miles should be here soon so I can get it back on the road.

I have a 2001 Proton with 157,000 miles. Probably the highest milage but most beautiful VX out there!!!

Here are my repairs to date:.............

CD changer replaced under warranty at 36K in 2002(warranty)

Replace original tires at 66,000 miles with 285X18..Terra something or another..ferot again probably around 2004

Exhaust flange broke off at 106K in 2005 (fixed myself re-welded)

Idle control valve (not the real name fergot that (fixed myself) corrected a intermittant fast idle condition.
Guessing@ 120+K out of warranty in any case.

Right side window repair: I figured this was coming from all the threads I read on the VX website..Finally died sorta!...fixed around 2006 myself. Died to the extent I repaired this problem with a tube of "weld it" and other various, "fix it's" sugested on our website. Well explained in previous threads....

Radiator cracks at 151,000 miles (July 2007)....The plastic head on the top of the radiator fails... and I have the car towed to a place with an after maket radiator replacement....cost with labor $265.00

Left side window repair: replaced myself due to, "scumbag" thief breaking window and stealing my stuff and radio/gps and camera (Nov 14, 2007) fixed myself last week...window anyway...r&r in 2 1/2 hrs including "weld it' fix......Lying in wait for scumbag to, "make my day"

Serpintine belt tensioner pulley fails at 156,500 miles...replace myself for $51.00 at Pep Boys..Aftermarket part looks whimpy...I am now feeling that everything bad happens at 150K miles on the speedometer of this car

Today....r&r high pressure power steering hose...due to small leak....conned my mechanic friend to install this... for 3, "151" rum and cokes at local Mex. Resturant

K....sounds like a long list but consider this....I have 157K miles....never filed a warranty claim, except for the CD changer....I have never changed the following:

    1. The original brake pads

    2. Transmission fluid

    3. The cam belt:bgwg:

    4. Spark plugs;oor;

    5. Thermostat

I do presently have issues with the TOD and a intermittant transmisssion problem...which I am working on (when the mood strikes me)....but hey!!!!! I have a lot of miles on my beauty queen.....

PS:: Thanks to John Eaton 4 yo feedback...

Nope! I come from the "don't fix it, if it aint broken club". I should qualify that by saying that I did replace the fluid immediately after I bought her with Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. Same with my differencials. I do change the engine oil (Mobil 1 also) and filter every 4K miles. Heat and abuse kills a tranny, so can running it low on fluid. Its a closed system so no outside contaminents are introduced. If it gets hot the oil is designed to change color and will stink! Then a good idea to R&R the fluid but the damage has probably been done anyway by that time. Auto tranny's, engines, and people do wear out, it is going happen someday but I have to smile at the ole gal every morning for her faithful service...so when she breaks I will fix her.

BTW, I owned an Aamco Transmission shop in Huntington Park, Ca. from 1969 to 1974 when I sold it and got into the car wash biz. That is one messy oily business...

My Proton just hit 83k today! So far so good... she needs some love and affection but she is doing great! Minor issues... the parking brake light on the dash panel goes on and off as she pleases, the dimmer for the dash lights doen't work (it is stuck on the brightest setting), but that's about it so far. She is a rescue VX. She needed nearly immediate attention once I bought her. Never been lubed , never had tranny fluid changed , didn't know when the last oil change was , (when I bought her). But now she's all better! And waiting for braided brake lines, skid plates, rock sliders and all sorts of other goodies. After the holidays of course... I spent too much money already.

39,000. I try not to drive it much because I don't want any dings or dents.
Other people don't care about there vehicle when next to the VX.
