A true cat back system normally has larger than stock tubing from the muffler back. That would really be the only difference between the two. You could just hae the PV installed and then have the shop bend you up a new tail pipe out of 2.5" or something like that.

What is our stock pipe 2"? Would it be best to run 2.5" or 3"(if we are running 2") from the cat all the way back?
