    20" with 9.5 offset

Just a question to those who added some 20" rims....are you having to trim the cladding back to fit ones that are 20 x 9.5? I have a couple sets of 20" rims I'm thinking about adding but wanted to see if cladding trimming could be avoided. I've checked back posts, but it's tough feeding through them because so far I founded mixed opinions on this. Thanks

20 will give you a really bad ride. I really advise against it. You will fill like the whole car rattles and follows every crack on the tarmac

Comming from someone that runs 20s year round, the ride is a lot better in my opinion. True you do give up little shock absorbtion but the handleing is soooooooo much better. I run 20x9 with a +10mm offset and 275/45/20 tires. As for your ? If you get a higher offset wheel like a +20 to +30mm you will probibly clear the cladding just fine. I had to trim my fender lips just a little to clear mine but nothing major.

Well....I'm planning on 20s with a nice soft road tire. Perhaps down the road I'm thinking about softer shocks. I can't say the stock ride is all that soft, especially in south Florida with all the construction.

I have to disagree. I run 20's in the spring and here in RI where the street and highways are kind of crappy the VX rides smooth. To me it actually rides better than the factory 16's. It could be cuz I run a 275/55/20.

Catch77 it really depends on the size of the tire if you run a 295/45/20 then you don't have to trim of much, very little at best.

    TDawg,
I was running 275/45/20 and the ride was so bad I was afraid of having the car come apart on me. Also maybe the weight of the wheels was too much.
I have decided if I go for aftermarket wheels I am sticking to 18s and wider. And they are so hard to find a good 18 with 8inch wide and an offset of 20 +

I'm favoring the MOMO Magnums...and I found several online dealers...just none in the local area in FL.

You can't compare the ride of an Axiom with that of a VX at all even in sport setting - they are completely different beasts with different valving.

20s on any will plain and simply ride rougher than an 18 of comparable size as there is less sidewall to flex and absorb any bumps in the road. Of course it will handle much better as a turn of the steering wheel is more quickly transmitted to a turn since there is less sidewall delay.

Also, if you push the wheels out farther than stock backspacing on a VX and go wider in rubber and or rim, you run a great risk of contacting the back of the front wheel well.
