Well Gang we pulled it off,
On thurs. gruven and myself drove through "redneck hell" to get to the site. Thanks to mapquest we almost drove 64 miles out of Cleveland Tn. to hwy 76( should have been 6.4 mi.). When we arrived at the gap there was a thick fog looming over the mountain, a thick fog we would all become very familiar with. In conjunction with narrow mountain roads my catch phrase was born " gruven..tell momma I love her". We set up camp in the pouring down rain. At that point I was becoming a bit concerned...After the tents were up gruven and I talked long into the night about profound topics and this funny little truck we all love. With the morning I discovered why my tent came with a bottle of seam sealer. mid-day fri. I heard the familiar growl of a laboring 3.5 L and through the fog broke a proton silhouette, forgetful had arrived. Then the chrome wielding astrial we all know to be Coop's coop. Next, VXtreme's REAL H.I.D.'s pierced the fog like a knife. After a short time johnnyapollo the VX Godfather of the southeast showed. As I was fumbling through the fog I noticed a figure pitching a tent. It was Lori the quiet girl and Bennie & Moobie her precious pooches. I didn't even know she was there. Later we were advised by the friendly neighborhood ranger, Georgia has a state law against pitching a tent on the grass in a state park, go figure. Next, skullcap came on the scene in his ebony like a "dark angel". All we lacked were the Floridians. Then the cell phone rang and moments later, not unlike the last election, Florida was in. Joe_Black and Niv rolled in like a miniature citrus bowl parade. It didn't take them long to change out of their shorts into pants. Saturday morn VXtreme and I went trout fishing and the rest caught up. After the lunch run some of us worked on mods and some went for a trail ride. Either way VXes were being altered...ask forgetful. Sunday was spent breaking camp and saying our good-by's. The weekend was one of the best memories I have to date involving the VX. That funny little truck that bridges all sociological gaps. Heck, come to think of it, that wasn't fog after all...Our heads were in the clouds....THANKS GANG!! carlymac
