    Winch Bar and Snorkel

    Hi all

So close to purchasing a 1998 VX to replace my battered old Cherokee, but can not seem to find any accessories for heavy off roading. I.e a winch bar suitable for a 9000lbs winch and a snorkel. These would be a must for where I venture in New Zealand. Any thought?

    Cheers Mike

    My personal thoughts

If, someone is trying to sell a 98 VX DON'T BUY IT! They didn't make VX's then. Vehicross's were made in 99, 00, and 01 only.

    Hi there
    Thanks for the reply.
These are seriously sexy vehicles. Where would I get parts? Does anyone know the tow rating? We have laws here, just come in ... Darn it all
99-01 just a little confused. there are actually two for sale here in NZ, one listed as 1997 V-CROSS and 1 listed as 1998 V-CROSS. Both look exactly like the ones on site here. They are of course Jap Imports

    Cheers Mike

Japanese Vx was first introduced to the market in 1997 but in the US in 1999.

    Wow!
5000lbs, that should tow my two horses and a double float. Suspect shares in a fuel station though.

I believe the Japanese version *IS* tow rated. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

For winch ideas check out Spazz and Swordy's galleries. They both have winches very cleverly installed behind the front cladding. As far as suspention Old Man Emu (right in your back yard) has the 912 springs that will lift the back about 2.5-3 inches and the torrsion bars can be turned to lift the front allowing larger off road tires to be used. ARB (also in your back yard) makes lockers that will fit your VX. Those additions will surely make your VX more capable off road than most anything over there! And YES VX's were made for the Asian market in 97 and 98. We had to wait to get one here in the U.S. until 99. Good luck!

That's right...the Vx made it to the Australian shores long before they reached us here. Isuzu sent the '97's and '98's over downunder and Europe before we even saw the first ones in '99. All of those were JP specs and if I remember right they are rated higher for towing capacity then the U.S. versions.(exact weight however escapes me right now...it's tough getting older).
Aren't the Rover snorkels made of a flexible plastic material? They could possibly be adapted for the VX?
Good luck with the project and keep us posted on the progress. Welcome on board.
