If the VX is in really good shape, that still might be a bit high, but not too unreasonable, as there are so few VXs, the blue book price isn't all that.

Low mileage is not worth thousands of dollars. Check Edmunds.com, as well. Their numbers tend to run a little lower than KBB. Make sure you are looking at the right price, too: there's dealer retail (the highest), private party retail, and trade-in value (the lowest). Anyway, print it and show it to the dealer - then they will at least know they can't lie to you about the going price. And don't pay more! They will make a lot more money on reselling that trade-in than they would selling a new car (to a savy buyer), so don't feel sorry for them.

What he said...I paid under 14 K for my 99 astral w/ 9,700k on the clock 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Of course, thats in ND, wages are lower here too.
