I find it fascinating that so many people believe this. Vigilante justice has never been condoned nor is it legal, even with the constitution. Even with the so-called “make my day” laws that many states have, it is a slippery slope that can land you in jail for a very long time unless very specific criteria are met at the time of the incident. The American justice system is not only over burdened, but is also quite complex. So much so that the person with the most money usually wins. Not always, but more often than not. We also have a “for profit” prison system that is looking to fill as many beds as they can, regardless of guilt or innocence.
