    Recaro heated seats kit

I installed a kit this past summer to add heated seats to my Miata. Does anyone know of any kits available to do this for the VX? Actually, I would think that the kit I used in the Miata would fit OK. Getting the covers off can be a pain, but after a half-days work, it's great having them in there.

I contacted Recaro, 2 years ago, about the heated/cooling option for our Trend seats.

They said that it takes too much work to install the option on existing seats and that they would only include it on new seat purchase. Do they now sell kits?

I have had the seats out and it does not look that difficult to do. For those that do not know our seats already have air ducts that run from the bottom of the seats into the back and vent out the top of the plastic back that ends about the middle of the seat back.

On the bottom there is mounting that looks similar to a personal computer case fan mount. Side note: PC accessories like case fans and neon lights are 12 volt. And PC accessories are sometimes cheaper than the same thing packaged as "Auto Accessories".

Those look very similar to the ones I put in the Miata:

If the seats come out of the VX fairly easily and the covers come off and will go back on with some sort of semblance to how they looked before, it would be pretty easy mod to do. The Miata seats are formed like the Recaro- though not quite as drastic. Bottom line, I would assume an auto upholstery shop would handle the seat side of the mod no problem.

The seats themselves are easy to remove/install.
The upholstery is very difficult to pull though. I've looked at this considerably lately (it's 42 below zero today).

Does the Trooper/Rodeo have a heated seat option? I'd like to use that button/switch for an aftermarket seat heater.

If anything, I might just get a couple of those lame ones that plug into the 12v outlet. At least it'll keep the buns off of the leather.

    mbeach,

Seriously, at -42 deg. it's no longer considered a " clothing optional" event.

The axiom has heated seats with 2 buttons on the console.

Yes, the Troopers have heated seats aswell. Two swiches in the middle in the console next to the shifter.
