Civil Service Exams

I applied online for a job recently, and part of the qualification process is a civil service exam. Do they usually consist of the basic mathematical, reading comprehension, etc, categories? Just thought I'd ask if anyone else here has any experience with these types of exams.

yes, lots of basic math and mechanical questions. But I suppose it could very on the type of job, mine was firefighter, so naturally it would be mechanical based.
