Gary which has better graphics? the 360 or the PC?

On a side note I picked up Burnout Revenge and Ghost Recon for the 360 today.

I didn't think you people really existed!

While I've got the soapbox..... I'm wondering how publishers can put up with shoddy game writing for so long. There are numerous examples, but most recently, the fiasco created by EA's latest 1.2 patch of Battlefield 2. It set off to address some of the "wrongs" in the previous version, and created a whole slew of new problems in the process. Not just gameplay balance issues, but technical "stuff that should have been definitely caught in playtesting" bugs that detract from the overall playability of the game.

Mind you that this 1.2 patch had been in the works for the better part of three months.

So what happens? TWO DAYS after the patch is released to the public, EA/DICE promise to release a new patch, 1.21. Everyone thinks it will be a quick turnaround, because lord knows they screwed the pooch on the first attempt. The patch was announced on Feb 20th with the usual spin doctoring "there are additional issues that were found and we are working quickly to resolve them."

In my industry, if we released deliverables to PAYING CLIENTS that were this crappy, we wouldn't be in business. Whoever is in charge of quality control over there should be ****canned, and the programmers all put in a room and not allowed to leave until they fix their crappy code that they put out before.

Yup, if we didn't there wouldn't be a Max Payne 1 or 2. Or a soon to be released Prey for that matter.

Ya Brian, compared to your track record *nudge nudge*. What's going on over there?! Smack George for me would ya. Gotta blame someone, right?

pbkid, it's single player. That's what we do. We would be stupid to jump in to the MMO market without any knowlege.

Cyrk, they are identical. Same assets all the way through. The only way you will see a differemce is if you are on a 360 with an analog tv. It's only worth it on 360 if you are HD capable.

Hmm, whats going on over here..... Finishing up Prey? I guess thats kind of hard to notice with the articles we've been putting in various gaming mags, and the web coverage.

And what would I blame George for exactly?

I was referring to when I was at Ion Storm (in '97) as far as longevity of a product in development, smart ***.

    A little touchy I see.

I guess thats what happens when you're awarded the lifetime acheivement award in vaporware, and even manage to win the award after that!

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Remedy did the lion's share of the work on Max Payne.

Yeah, so at Ion Storm, were you part of the party when someone rewrote the code to the missile launcher in Daikatana to make it shoot backwards. Then JR shot it, blew himself up and got so pissed off he flung his monitor with his little yellow ferrari model on the floor and fired the intern that thought it would be funny to do it? :P

How about the time you guys projected porn onto the skyscraper next to your office? :P

Prey also had a vaporware award or two as I recall, but its obviously going to be released this time. Sorry that we don't whore ourselves out to publishers and have to abide by their ridiculous deadlines.

Well since you've been working here and at Remedy then you definitely know what you're talking about, I'm very very sorry for my obvious lack of knowledge on this topic.

That was WAY after my stint there. And most of that I would only assume is just rumors. John isn't the loser everyone makes him out to be, but these comments always fall on deaf ears.

Yeah well, I guess 10 years was just a little too aggressive for you guys.

Now now Brian, not so sure where you took things wrong here, but nothing offensive is intended (by me anyways.... feel free to punch Maugan ). All fun and games. Clearly, by the backlash, you must be in "cRuNcH", and I understand.

I was talking about Duke concerning the lengthy time. No clue you did time at Ion. That would also explain the time frame. We aquired some ex Ions in the past couple of years. Emil Pagliarulio and Mark Lampert. We have some others but they are more on the producer/marketing side.

Concerning George, I wasnt sure you were working on Prey or Duke. If I am correct, George is on Duke I believe (correct me if I am wrong, I am sure you will). In that case, It;s simply fun to blame George for "anything". Bitter and cynical.... that's what makes George fun.

Those that poke John Romero don't really know John, I agree. He is pretty arrogant, but, he has always backed it up. You can't point Daikatana at him, especially since EVERY developer has their sack of !@#$all titles. I have a few I would love to sweep under the carpet. I wish John the best this MMO he has planned out. Could be his vessel to get back into the thick of things. It was nice back in the day when John was always around to stir things up. Made things.... fun.

Hang in there Brian. I am looking forward to Prey.

just so you don't go punching people.

My comments are all made in jest... don't take it as anything personal.

If DNF (which, in the sailing world, means "Did Not Finish") comes out, I'm definitely buying a copy.

    Sorry Gary, I'm a FPS whore :P

(ps that patch I was whining about finally came out)
