    Arrow AGP or PCI-E?

AGP or PCI Express? If its PCI-E, I recommend the 6800 over the 7900. 6800 has been proven to run faster than the 78-7900s. I’m pretty bias. So I'm more of an Nvidia fan over anything else.

I too am biased and only choose to use ATI. I currently have a fairly dated x800xl and am more than pleased with it. We use SLI stations at work that piggyback dual gForce cards and they are horrible. Even top of the line cards, but they are worse off than a single high end ATI card through SLI. I seem to think it's driver related, but then again, what do I know.

My advice: Go as high end ATI as your wallet will allow you. If even more money allows, go SLI and piggyback dual ATI's. DREAMY! (AGP is on it's way out.... SLI is making sure of that. Go PCI)

I have been a loyal ATI video card owner. But on my next rig, I am going to
NVIVIA. Take a look at the NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 512. Maximun PC magazine rates it a 9 out of 10 Kick A-- rating. It is a bit pricey but worth it. I value the recommendations of Maximum PC like I do the information and help from this forum.

Whether you have an AGP slot or a PCI-E slot, I am a big fan of the 6800. I have an AGP 6800 and it rocks. I am a half-life/counter-strike junky and this card does really well with those 2 games.

installing 6800 ultra agp this weekend. i am not a player - just video editing on Sony Vegas 6 (still need to learn) and Premier Pro 2.0

to answer the question on two cards - same debate as Intel vs. AMD... there are things that one of them is doing better then the other and vice versa.... I've build my station pretty recently and decided to go the cheaper way with AGP vs PCI-E one one reason. I've been around computers for quite some time and learned one thing - lates and greatest is not the way to go. You have to be one step behind the technology or you'll end up spending ton of money every 6 months just to stay current. Companies can do that - they are well funded. Thats the nature of technology. Before giving you any advice please tell what you plan to do with your machine: gaming ? video editing ? casual computing ?

well...this is gonna be a gaming rig(some wat) and should have listed wat my new setup is.

    Intel P-D 805(OC 3.6GHZ)
    Patriot 700mhz 1gig DDR2
    120GB 7200 SATA
    200gb 7200 SATA
    500W PSU
    ECS845P(crap mobo i know)

    my pass rig is
    AMD 2500XP(oc 2.2GHZ)
    ddr3200 1gig
    asus a7n8x
    9800AIW
    (same hd setup)

usually there is a clear winner, intel vs amd. its almost obviously AMD FX is faster then teh Intel EE. the problem i have rite now is tat both the x1800xt and the 7900gt (single card) are basically the same, they bench bascially the same, runs similar frames in games, EXCEPT Oblivion(wormgod didnt u have a hand in this game?) ati runs a bit faster, but ati runs hotter (in general).

now im interested in the 6800 being faster then the 7900s, how? both the memory and gpu are faster in teh 7900. are u speakin of OC potential?

I bought a x1900xtx pci card today, and it wouldn't fit in my case.

This card is single slot, but 2 cards wids. The pci slot is near the end of the slot openings in my case, and the offset of the card made it unusable. The card fit the motherboard, just not the case slots.

I returned the card, and am still looking.

OK, I installed an ATI Radeon X1600 Pro x16 today.

This card is only single width, and doesn't need seperate power connector.

Smokin fast, I cranked the resolution up, and texture size down, and its still fast.
