The Yokohama M/Ts are my dream tire -there is no real Yoko dealer within 1000 miles of me though.
I'd love to have some "mudders" that had wide and stable blocks like those. My Dunlops do pretty well though.

I like the Mud Grapplers as well but I dont want to hear all that noise.Yeah... the lettering IS a bit much... and as far as redneck-I spent the first 37 years of my life on a horse farm in the Pa. mountains then spent the following ten years all swamped up in central Florida... my life is building and rebuilding vehicles( and driving hell out of them) Do the math. The tires that started this thread I think look pretty cool, but would be a nite mare to keep the side walls clean.

So who is gonna be the guinea pig, er, I mean, bold brave soul to buy a set to see if they fit? I could be tempted to buy these if they fit without a large amount of hacking, and if they ride ok.
I oicked up a set for 737.00/shipping www.onlinetires.com had the best price. They fit fine some cutting is ness.only because of the rims i have. so if the rims were the stock offset would be fine. I will let you know about the ride tomorrow night as it will be my maiden voyage with new tires and 912 springs. I would like to give thanks to mbeach for all his advice and help with all my questions. Thanks Man
That's a great setup WiSDom -the picture's cute too.
What size/offset of wheel did you end up going with?
Oh, and how'd the truck dry out after your submersion?
Back on topic,
I assume that those 'Dune' tires will fit as well as the other Nittos, and will be of equally high quality. My own bias aside (nothing personal Wayne, my wife's from PA too), I suppose that the tread pattern will be alright for its intended use. If you squint hard enough, you can almost see a bit of Mickey Thompsom inspiration in the tread spacing. For you hardcore show goers and road guys, I'm sure that they'll get a lot of attention.
For those drivers who, even occasionally, get off the pavement, I'll bet these tires pack up with mud in a second. If some Jeeper has to pull you out -you'll definately get flamed -twice.
Thanks for the tip from online tires -even shipping UPS will be expensive though- remember where I live, milk costs $4 a gallon.
EDIT:
I just went to that onlinetires.com site. Boy am I steamed. They have great prices -even the shipping isn't bad. 4 Yokohama A/T IIs (265/75) shipped to Fairbanks Alaska for $64. I didn't see the Yokohama M/Ts on there though- it seems like the link is dead. I dunno if those Nittos are on there -if they are, I'm sure it'll be just as great of a price.

Mbeach, try tirerack.com
I love the look of your vx jofotoz.
Those tires make the whole thing look mean.

mbeach - Have you called TireRack? Sometimes getting those guys on the phone can work miracles. When I ordered my Yokohama M/T+'s from 'em they gave me a sweet deal on the shipping, which was especially great since the + version was just being released.
As for road holding and noise, they're sticky as all get out and quieter than a set of BFG All Terrains. I couldn't believe how they held the Dragon to the asphalt on the flat track...

From that photo, it looks like your driver side front wheel is actually grabbing soft shoulder... no wonder they gripped. you were really off roading!Originally Posted by Joe_Black

Hmmm... I've pondered this tire for a while now (at least since originally seeing this thread), and think it's grown on me. I'll be needing a newer set in the next 6 months, and just might give this line a try...
However, upon first seeing the tire my thoughts immediately drew a mental picture.... um, something like this:
"YEEEEE HAAAWWWW!, GET-R-DONE, YOU KNOW YOU'RE A REDNECK WHEN..." --- *sigh... In other words, a HUGE turnoff for me. BUT!, time has allowed me to reshape this first impression and *forgive* and *overlook* the potentially inherent connections to redneck culture this tire may produce. In other words, I don't care what people associate or think of this tire... I might just give it a try.
Any 'closet' Dune Grappler owners out there who simply haven't piped up? If so, lets hear from you - and see a picture of them on your VX!!! (please.)
