Centerline Wheels?

Anyone out there using Centerline wheels? They have several models, IMHO, which would look quite good on the VX. They're forged and I'm sure, quite a bit lighter, even in the 18" size than the cast 16" wheels currently on my car (99 VX).

Anyone ever weigh the stock wheel setup for the 16" and 18" packages?

When we were looking for replacement rims for our VX Swordy kept on trying to talk me into Centerlines. Now I know they have some great wheels but..... after 20 years of polishing deep dish centerlines with these blasted little buttons on our 73' Z28.... you couldn't get me to invest in them. The name alone scared me off. I also wouldn't even look at wheels that had anything that looked like beadlocks. EWWW BUTTONS! I wanted the no hassle rims.

The ones shown are great, what size are they going to be?

heh, what ever happened to good old Cragar's? I remember my pop had a sporty set on his boss-*** 70's Ford Van with Corvette sidepipes, hahaha.

I just ordered my wheels today. I picked up some Enkei RT6's.

Try out that site. They have some GREAT deals and all sorts of makes. Unless of course, you are sold on Centerlines. I had 2 sets of Centerlines before. I never had much luck or good experiences with them. That's just my opinion though.

You know, before I got the wheels, I did some searching to see if anyone had them already. That Trooper was the first thing I foundm heh. They look solid and industrial. Cant beat a good old machined finishing touch.

But, back to the topic. This subject isnt mine, heh.

For Centerlines, i would choose this one....



its got that nice Alcoa/Boys but without the HEAVY pricetag Alcoa/Boyds has.

I'm not big into polished either...I have a set of anodized, uncoated Volk Racing rims on my RX7...less than a year later, they look like absolute crap. The Centerlines, however, can be had either polished OR chromed...so far my stock chrome rims have not needed any special maintenance. Just good cleaning with soap/water. I like the Enkei's and actually saw that model on Discount Tire's site. I like the fact they're an 8.5" rim whereas most of the Centerlines are 8" widths. I'm willing to bet the Centerlines are quite a bit lighter and stronger however. They have a few spoked wheels that I'm fond of and most are about $250 a rim. Not too bad really.

If you're going to be driving mostly on the road.. which I suspect you will if you're going for 18s... go for the Forgeline series from Centerline. They are pressure casted and are much lighter and stronger than regular cast aluminum wheels.

yeah, primarily road. I was thinking of hitting the local autocross now and again just to shake everyone up a bit

Most of what I have here is 1)moderately deep water due to hurricane tidal surge and 2)sand with occasional mud. Most of the off-road stuff is through sand, bordered by brush.

I figured a set of 18's with Scorpion Zero's would fit the bill while giving good road handling. I'm subtropical and the rainy season is also something to contend with. Torrential downpours on a daily basis and our roads don't always drain well. Think the Scorpions will fit the bill or should I be looking at another make of tire?

I'd definitely go with the forged series if there is a fitment available. As for tires... I am not all that familiar with Perellis. I just know they tend to be expensive because of the brand. All the tires I've bought in the past excluding a set of BFG ATs, all of them were Yokohamas and none of them have let me down.
