    Calmini

I find it interesting that after the mention of possibly purchasing the Calmini lift kit that the price goes up. When I first researched it, it was only 489, now its 549. Think they have an eye on this site?

    Maybe just coincidence.

Forget Calmini. Buy OME 912 springs, longer shocks for the rear and crank your torsion bars and you have a better suspension lift for less money. The only difference is that I think the Calmini kit may come with bumpstops (and I've heard the springs and shocks are low quality). You can purchase these seperately if you're a serious offroader, otherwise you don't need them.

I think I will get the OME springs. I just thought about buying the Calmini kit because it was a kit. I’m not a serious offroader, I go to the sand dunes, lakes and camping occasionally (when I lived in AZ). Mostly play in the mud and explore the occasional trail.

    Thumbs down

Ditto what Kyle said...only thing I have to add is I think their kit may also contain unnecessary new torsion bars.
I got a bad taste in my mouth for cal-mini right after I bought my VX & called them to request a catalog...after they found out I had a VX they couldn't be bothered to send it as (in their words) they didn't have much that would fit one of "those things".
IMO, very short sighted in the customer relations dept.

The second reason for being lured to the Calmini kit is that I found their website. I feel stupid because every thing I search on for OME springs leads me to forums and reviews. Were can I go to get pricing and order. Secondly does anyone have a part number they used, to make it that much easier.

This is my first VX and I promise I will be asking more questions. I am mechanically inclined, not an expert by any means, but I have worked with older American trucks a lot and do my own mechanical work.

I am awaiting info on this mod to. The way I understand is I lift this with Tropper 912 springs and their longer shocks and crank the front torsion bar accrodingly? How much of a lift would this give me? I want to go big. And how much would this set me back? Thanks.

I suspect one of the reasons that Calmini snubbed you like that is probably that at some point they discovered that the Sway Bar in their kit isn’t as stiff as the factory unit on a VX (which happens to be 65% stiffer than the one on the Trooper!)

It will get you about a 3 inch lift, and the cost is about $130 for the OME 912 springs. Don't quote me on the price, but that about what I paid.

I did it, and it's great.

    Peace.

How is the ride with the low cost conversion and the Calmini kits. I would like to soften the stock ride a little but not lose all the stiffness and handling.

    Thanks,
