Seems someone else spotted it recently too.

I kind of like how the cladding is painted glossy to match the body. Probably hard to keep it from getting chipped up in parking lots though.

I'm glad you guys have a great sense of humor.

You know they used to drive around in Porsche targa's over here.
they took out the roof and put those stupid helmets on as a standard issue.

When they ditched the Porsches because of the high maintanance costs, they also lost this headwear.

They now drive Volvo t5's on LPG.

I found that squad car on my second day of searching for info on VX's. I think it looks really sharp. I wonder where they would transport prisoners though.

I also am extremely curious now about laws concerning civillian vehicles painted to resemble sqad cars. Does anyone know anything about that?

I'd love to paint my doors white on my ebony, but I wonder how that would look without painting the cladding.

Security guards and patrols have cars that are painted more like cop cars than anything else. Also, the highway patrol auctions of their cars when they are done and all they do is pull off the stickers. So I think you could paint it however you want, you just can't turn on the pretty blue lights.

I was thinking it would be neat to have some sort of lights on the roof though. But Plain ones of course. I would think that most people would operate with a little more respect around such a vehicle. At least till they realized it was not a cop car.

Go ahead & paint your doors white...just don't be surprised when you're mistaken for "Geek Squad".

Zeus is right. In Texas it's not a question of color as it is the "goodies" you throw on the ride. Any red & blue light bar (overhead or in the grill) will do you in. As will any form of "police" sticker without some form of security license. I've made several arrests in the past 24 years (Houston PD) where folks have wanted to play police. It's very high on most officers "things you can do to piss me off" list (and I'm one of the easiest cops in the world to get along with). Too many folks have been conned by impersonators then robbed. Unless you have just cause, the putting of anything on a car that remotely resembles something the police would use is a really really bad idea.

My brother is a retired police officer and he told me pretty much the same when I called him yesterday. Paint it how ya want but no police stickers or red or blue lights. But, geshaw30, do you think just the painting would anger any local officers? I certainly don't have that sort of intention. I get enough speeding tickets as it is. Naw, I haven't in a long time. But I don't want that to start again.

As for being mistaken for geek sqaud, that would sure make my son want to borrow my car. heheh
He's a tech minded guy, but not nearly as good as the Geek Squad guys. His favorite t-shirt is his Geek Squad shirt. A wannaba, I guess.
