Looks like I'll be buying a book for the first time in ages. I won't actually read it, just highlight that section. The author obviously owned and drove (and fell in love with) a VX.

sounds to be a horrible read...ooof
WTF?...is "Floon" a real name?
(I apolagise in advance to anyone named Floon)
But geez, that's just...
OK, I'll stop before...
...what is the whole story about anyway?
I think Floon was probably a last name...cause yeah, I've never heard of anyone named Floon!
Is the rest of the book good?
I like the Lions for breakfast bit too...

floon 15 up, 7 down
A abbreviation of the phrase "fukcing loon" used to describe a blinkered Michael Jackson jacko fan. A floon can see no wrong with a middle aged man "sharing his bed" with a prepubescent boy. A floon will defend Jacko's innocence with lots of capital letters and exclamation points.
Michael Jackson is 10000% INNOCNET!!!!1!!!!
Shut up, you floon!

Good find! Did some checking - just a quick look on Wikipedia - the author was born here in the US in 1949 but has lived in Austria since the early 70's. There can't be too many VX's cruising around Vienna, and if the author himself ever had a VX, it wasn't when he was 29, like the Floon character was. It would be interesting to ask the author about the reference.
By the way, I stumbled across a log of a Japanese ship movements and such during WWII. The ship was called the Isuzu. Sort of interesting to read if WWII history is your thing. There's this one entry...
55 miles W of Corregidor. The ISUZU is attacked by LtCdr Frank Haylor's USS HAKE (SS-256) and hit by one of six torpedoes he fires. The ISUZU's stern is severely damaged and her rudder destroyed. After at-sea emergency repairs, the ISUZU, escorted by the MOMO, changes course to Singapore.
The Isuzu, escorted by the Momo... I don't know, it gave me a chuckle, but maybe I'm just really goofy.
Here's the site:
