when sound deadening, did you guys remove the coating that on the floor in the rear?

I wouldn't remove it. If anything, go over it with your material.

You can also add up to 3 layers of sound deadening material to the whole - that's what I did and it reduced the interior noise significantly.

I did not remove it, seemed quite permanent and was the same color as the body (silver in my case).

You will find the same stuff on the front floor boards. It was interesting how it looked 'melted' on the passenger side over the TOD unit.

i ended up leaving it, all i removed was the padding

on another note.. i noticed that my tailgate looks happy sounddeadened!

Hey Etlsport, may I ask what sound deadener you used? What kind of difference have you noticed? I'm thinking about only doing the cargo area behind the front seats as that should be the easiest on which to work.

not meant to hijack the thread, but when after you all did this, did you notice any change in the temperature in the car. i used some dynomat like stuff throughout the whole thing, and i swear that during the summer, the inside is sooooo much hotter than what i remember. does this stuff also serve as an insulator or am i just paranoid?

spitfire - I believe the stuff I used has some good insulation properties. On the plus side, once it heats up inside (in the winter) it stays pretty warm, and if you use A/C, it will stay cooler longer. But you're right, if you don't use your A/C, it seems hotter inside to me also.

joe isuzu - If you are budget conscious, i would look into some of Dynamat's competitors, as IMO they are overpriced. I used B-Quiet's "Brown Bread" and couldn't be happier. I've heard pretty good stuff about "Ram Mat" also, but I have no personal experience with it.

1) Dynamatt is overated in my opinion - brown bread is just as good and much cheaper. Do your own research.
2) No noticable temperature change inside the cabin.
